Freedom to modify output of/input for xcos model (automation)

I was in the market for Simulink alternatives and I found this; the reason why I was looking for alternatives is that I need to be able to connect output of an open-source tool to the modeler. For example, let's say I have a high-level system/diagram which I want to automatically model using xcos. I would like to know if I can develop some plugin/addon for xcos that can do this, and if xcos has some kind of a library for user-defined implementations such as mine.

This seemed like the best place to post my question, and I would greatly appreciate any and all suggestions and advice!

Xcos does have the ability to call userdefined functions, if that is what you are looking for. See the Spoken tutorial https://spoken-tutorial.org/watch/Scilab/Calling+User+Defined+Functions+in+XCOS/English/
