AMR to capture shocks

I would like to get some assistance on Adaptive Mesh Refinement which can be used in Openfoam(not the kind used in SnappyHexMesh), so as to capture shock structures in a compressible flow field better.

It would be great if you could direct me to a suitable tutorial case or make suggestions to achieve the question at hand.

Regards,

Milin

Hi Milin,

You can try the thesis in the link below for AMR. The thesis also deals with a density-based compressible solver, which I'm hoping is what you're too, to model detonation. https://search.proquest.com/docview/2414031288?pq-origsite=gscholar&fromopenview=true

Thanks Ashley,

But i am unable to get the full document of the thesis from that link. Also my work is focussed on scramjet intake , wherein i am attempting a simulation incorporating AMR. I would be obliged if you could guide me with the same. I am able make a simulation of scramjet intake without AMR. Now i want to incorporate it.

Milin

Hi Milin,

I could mail you the paper. For work related to scramjet intake, I think this thesis would be really helpful as the author also uses it to capture shocks due to an explosion/detonation.

Please let me know your mail ID.

Ashley
