foot prints appropriate for my selected components

How do i know the foot print is appropriate for my selected component in esim? There is more number of foot prints available for each and every component? How can i select a approprite foot print? Some components have same names and different notations ( like Diodes_SMD,Diodes_THT, RESISTORS,CAPACITORS,TRANSISTORS,MEASUREMENTS ETC...) so how can i map my circuit foot prints? Each components have more than 50 differnt foot print name it makes me more confuse. so please provide me proper explanation and solution for this....

Thank you

which footprints to use depends on the circuit designer, the reading material for it is given in the Addiotonal Reading material of the PCB layout for astable multivibrator tutorial.

Usually, you have to look up datasheet of the component you have chosen and select the footprint accordinly, e.g, You have a through-hole resistor(what is usually used in labs or breadboards) of 10k in your circuit, then you should use a footprint for through-hole resistor.
